1973-1991 K5 Blazer/Jimmy 4-Link Rear Suspension

TCI Engineering’s new Bolt‑in 4‑Link Rear Suspension for the 1973–1991 2WD K5 Blazer and Jimmy platform provides a significant ride‑height drop, smooth ride, better handling, reduced weight, and greater axle control. Additionally, this kit delivers the maximum drop possible without bed‑floor modifications and still keeps the rear seat. To achieve this, we use a unique axle‑bracket design that captures the axle tube 360 degrees. This design lets the bracket bolt on while staying extremely rigid. Furthermore, the C‑notches capture the outside and underside of the frame with 3/16” plate, which allows installation without separating the body from the chassis.

At full compression, the axle housing sits roughly ¼” below the bed. As a result, the system maximizes ride‑height drop and wheel travel. The 4‑Link frame brackets use boxed 3/16” plate as well. In addition, the brackets attach to the same locating holes as the factory leaf‑spring brackets, which keeps installation simple. The 1.25” O/D link bars come standard. They handle drag‑strip abuse, yet they still articulate well for street or autocross use.

Adjustable 4‑Link bars allow precise tuning of wheelbase and pinion angle. They also eliminate wheel hop and improve axle control. Ridetech 26‑way adjustable coil‑overs come standard. Additionally, the adjustable coil‑over mounts offer three height‑adjustment positions, and the shock body allows further fine‑tuning.

At the lowest static setting, the fender‑to‑ground distance measures 24.50” with 29” tall tires. Meanwhile, Energy Suspension supplies the polyurethane bushings with lubrication valleys and includes their patented poly lube. TCI Engineering uses only American‑made steel for all components.

Installation mainly requires drilling and bolting components in place. However, some subfloor modification is necessary where the 4‑Link bracket mounts, since this step ensures proper geometry. Even so, we reuse as many factory bolt holes as possible to keep installation straightforward.

The 1973–1991 2WD K5 Blazer/Jimmy 4‑Link Rear Suspension kit works with the factory rear axle. Also, complete 9” axle housings are available fully welded and ready to bolt in.
